This is a new curly Koa tenor rope bound ukulele built in the Pohaku workshop. It is a big sounding uke with good volume and good sustain. It has good note clarity and balance between the strings.
The wood is a golden colored curly koa from the big island of Hawaii professionally finished in a smooth glossy lacquer. The body and peghead are bound with a wooden rope binding. The fretboard and bridge are made out of East Indian Rosewood. The neck is made out of genuine quartersawn Honduran Mahogany. The inlaid fretmarkers are mother of pearl strips.
The back of the instrument is rounded as all Pohaku tenor instruments are. The playing action and instrument set up are excellent and the ukulele is well intonated all the way up the neck.
The tuners are the new Grover #9 geared tuners which are built especially for ukuleles; they are lightweight, work very well and look great. Hilo brand strings work well on these instruments.
The, measures about 26” long and weighs approx 23 ounces. It comes with a hard shell case.
