POHAKU MADE

All Pohaku Ukuleles are built by master craftsman, and fine artist
Peter Hurney

Hurney's first Pohaku Ukuleles were made in Kailua, Hawaii, in the early 1990's.  Then the shop was in Berkeley, California for 20 years and now Pohaku is located in the beautiful Pacific Northwest, Peter creates a small number of custom, one-of-a-kind instruments per year from Pohaku’s climate controlled wood-shop and artist studio. Pohaku ukuleles are created in a range of styles, from vintage classical to art deco, art nouveau to modernist steam punk.

Hurney’s dynamic, and award-winning instruments have been played on many stages and featured on countless recordings. Pohaku ukes have graced several galleries, museums, art books, music magazines, and have been discussed on countless music forums. They are, and continue to be, coveted instruments by professional musicians world-wide.
