Primitive Violin

 Size: Concert

 Number of Strings: 4

 Wood: Oak (I think)
This is a very old, very rare folk made instrument. It is similar in approach and technique as other Applachian made violins and banjos that I have examined. Ukuleles were commercially fairly cheap to buy and for this reason it is unusual to see an instrument of this level made. It is heavy for it size (approx 22" overall with a 16" scale length) it is poorly made and due to it's primitive fret spacing it could never play in tune. It's beauty ls in the primitive appeal it has. Four hand shaped wooden pegs hold on the gut strings. The fretwires are flat pieces of brass. Structurally the instrument is very good. I have never seen another one like it before.
Price: $1000 plus tax
