Kauri & Cedar

“Old, Old, Old”
This is an elegant new Pohaku concert size ukulele.
It has a Western Red Cedar soundboard matched with a body made of ancient Kauri wood.
There are a lot of decorative touches on this ukulele which I think work together nicely without being overly busy.
The rosette and binding are a White-Black-White color scheme, the bridge is mahogany with a maple cap and the peghead front, fretmarkers and lower moustache are all maple. And lastly there is a herringbone center strip running up the backside of the instrument.
The gloss lacquer finish is silky smooth. For easy tuning the new Grover 9g tuners are installed. The cedar top projects strong midrange tones and with great sustaining power this instrument rings long and loud.
Kauri wood is a species of Pine which currently grows in New Zealand. 30,000 to 50,000 years ago a stand of these trees slid into a peat bog where they have been buried and preserved until now. Your ukulele will come with a certificate from the wood supplier pledging the age of this wood which has been radio-carbon-dated by eight independent testing agencies.
Total length is about 23” long and weight is about 18 ozs. A Pohaku hard-shell case is included and shipping is additional.
