I first became enamored with automata sculpture after discovering San Francisco’s “Musee Mechanique”. This was a museum in the old Cliff House consisting of coin operated antique automata sculptures, animation stereo-scopes and mechanical music machines. My sculptures are inspired by the ones I had encountered in this museum and by others I have become aware of over the years. Nancy Burky, a fellow artist makes up the figures for these sculptures and I design and create the mechanisms which both house the characters and bring them to life.

Slurp Soup
The Slurp Soup animation imitates what one would view in an old animation stereo-scope resembling an old flip-card movie.
