Koa Vine & Soundhole
Title: "Koa Vine & Soundhole"
This striking instrument is a Big Island Koa concert size instrument with the front sound hole repositioned and a side monitor sound hole added. The inside of the instrument is braced differently to accommodate these changes. The advantage of the side monitor sound hole is that it projects some of the sound out of the instrument directly towards the player.
The inlays on the instrument are both Mother of Pearl and Pua abalone. The fretboard is an unblemished piece of black ebony and the bridge is maple and ebony. The tuning machines are the 4:1 ratio planetary Peg Head brand tuners and the instrument is finished in shiny gloss lacquer.
This style concert ukulele has lots of sustain and the Koa in this instrument really brings out its mid and low tones. The set up and intonation are second to none as is the complete overall quality of the build.
Overall length is about 23” and weight is approximately 18 ozs. The instrument comes in a hardshell case.
